I deep dish pie crust (comes in package of two)and 1 package pie crust (Pillsbury)(comes in package of two)
2 T. butter
1 lb. chopped ground chuck
1 cup chopped onions
1 cup sliced carrots
2 cups chopped cabbage
1 cup hot water
1 envelope instant brown gravy mix
2 T chopped parsley
1 tsp. salt
? tsp. oregano
? tsp. pepper
1 egg slightly beaten
1 tsp Savory (seasoning)

Double ingredients if you want to make two pies (this freezes well).

Preheat oven to 400?.

Here is how you make Nan's Beef and Veggie Pie:

Saut? onions, carrots, and cabbage in butter in a large skillet stirring often for about 15 minutes. Remove to a bowl. Saut? meat until pink color is gone, lower heat and stir in water and gravy mix, parsley, salt, pepper, and oregano. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Add meat mixture to the vegetables. Spoon meat mixture into thawed deep dish pie crust. Place pastry over the top of the meat mixture and crust. Seal the edges (crimp). Mix the beaten egg with1 T of water. Brush over the top.
