Add chocolate and beat. Add egg, syrup and extract. Beat well.Combine flour, soda, and salt in large bowl; stir in chocolate mixture and peppermint candy.Shape dough into 1-inch balls, and roll in additional sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350F for 11 to 15 minutes. Cool 5 minutes before movine to wire racks.Makes about 70 cookies.
