How Do I Make Plain Pizza from scratch?

Here is how you make Plain Pizza from scratch:

SaucePut on a pot of water to boil. Take a bowl and fill with ice water. Score the bottom of each tomato, and place them into pan of boiling water. When skin begins to peel, drain pot and put tomatoes in ice water.Ensure saucepan has no skins left in it, and return pan to stove top with olive oil over medium heat. When oil is hot, put tomatoes into pan and mash with a wooden spoon or a potato masher. Take care because oil may splash.Add paste, garlic powder, herbs, and sugar (to reduce acidity) Turn to low-heat to simmer. Approx 40 minutes, or until the sauce has consistency of store bought sauce. Set aside to cool.DoughWhile sauce is simmering, begin dough.Pour yeast in warm water. Too hot will kill the yeast, too cold won't activate it. Let sit for about 10 minutes. In a bowl, add flour, sugar and salt. Mix well. Make a well in centre of flour and add liquid. Mix well with a wooden spoon until dough forms.Turn dough out onto clean floured surface. Knead dough until it has an elastic pull. In a clean plastic bowl (metal can kill yeast), add dough and enough oil to coat. Make sure it is coated evenly.Cover with a clean dish towel and place in warm spot. (I heat up my oven until it is *warm*, and let the dough rest there)Let rest for 45 minutes to 1 hour.Preheat oven to 400F (200C)After dough has risen, punch it down. Turn dough out onto floured surface and roll out into a circle the size of your pizza pan. Put dough on pan and cover with a dish towel for 10 minutes.Add half the sauce to pizza and spread with the back of a spoon.Add cheese. Bake pizza for approx 10 minutes or until crust is golden brown and cheese is melted. Serving Size: Makes 2 8-slice pizzasNumber of Servings: 16Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user APRILLIANO_SA.
