Here is how you make Grandma's Peppered Steak:

Trim any fat, cut steak into strips.In a 4 or 5 quart pan:Heat oil, add garlic, salt, pepper and ginger; saute until garlic is golden.Add steak and brown, remove from pan and keep warm.Add green peppers and onions, saute for 5 to 8 minutes until thoroughly warmed through.Return steak to pan, add soy sauce, sugar, beef broth, water chestnuts (with water), corn starch (dissolved/suspended in the 1/2 cup water).Simmer 30 minutes or longer.
