Here is how you make Dumplings:

Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. (You can also add flavorings at this point--I use Italian seasoning & garlic powder). Cut in shortening with a pastry blender or forks until mixture is crumbly. Pour in milk and beaten egg. Mix ONLY UNTIL FLOUR IS DAMPENED! Dough should be lumpy.Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto boiling meat or soup (I put this on my chicken pot pie base or turkey stew). Cover tightly and steam 12 minutes WITHOUT REMOVING COVER (if you peak they will be soggy).
