1 3/4 c. buttermilk

400 degrees, bottom third of oven. Two loaf pans greased. Mix dry ingredients, grate cold butter and cheese, mix then add buttermilk. Transfer to well-floured surface. Divide in half, Shape into loaf about 7 in. long. Place in prepared pans. Bake until deep golden. Remove to wire rack 10mins. Run knife around inside edge and turn out.
